It turns out that it is not that hard to put money into the stock market and start investing. The three steps are: (1) pick a brokerage firm, like Robinhood, Webull, Cash App, Ameritrade, etc., (2) transfer money, and (3) lookup a stock symbol and hit the Buy button.
When you first get started always buy with a “Market,” not a “Limit” method. Buying at the Market simply means that the market maker has to buy the stock on your behalf immediately at the average price right then.
I always recommend that you buy a stock of a company that you like. Do you like shopping at Target? Buy Target stock (symbol: TGT). Do you like Facebook? Type in FB and the amount of money you want to spend.
If you don’t know the symbol, just go to Google and type in NAME STOCK (insert the NAME of the company). Google Finance will give you the symbol and loads of other interesting information, including the price.
How many shares do you buy? Just divide your money by the stock price. If you have $400 and TGT stock is at $183.58, you can safely buy 2 shares.
