These 10 recent shows/series may be worth your time unless I say not

I watch a lot of movies and TV series, both online and in the theatre. Why? I do this while I write at home, which is all day, every day.

I usually write about stocks, cryptos, investing, and finance. But, occasionally, I write about movies and TV. Here is my last article, “The Comforting Solace of Grief Depression Movies.”

I decided to put together a list of 5 movies or series that are fairly recent that I either liked (with 2 runner-ups) and 5 I did not, with some short reasons why. Keep in mind these are mostly guy movies. I will do a follow-up on girl movies that a guy could watch.

Here they are:

To Watch:

  • Maid — New series on Netflix — Surprisingly, it’s pretty good, even for me, a guy who likes action movies, and some romcoms. At least it captured my attention. It’s not as addicting as Ozark, of course (which, by the way, is coming out with a fourth season in 2022). But, I love watching how the Maid (Margaret Qualley) handles deep, crushing crises in her life. I give it 3 to 4 stars out of 5.
  • ArticMads Mikelson — This 2018 movie will capture your full attention. Not a lot of dialogue. It’s a survival movie. I like those — because they take you out of yourself. Mads Mikelson, the Danish actor, is intense, as always. Watch on Sling, Amazon, or Hulu. I give it 5 stars out of 5.
  • The North Water — AMC+ series — requires a subscription (it’s worth subscribing to watch the series then canceling). This is a Colin Farrell movie (with him as a bad guy, as usual), a historical drama made by BBC. I liked the grit and intense actors — it’s mildly addicting. 4 stars out of 5.
  • Extraction — 2020 Netflix film — Chris Hemsworth film. 100% action-packed. Guy’s movie. Cool scenes, reminding you of Jason Bourne. A sequel is coming out next year. 4 stars.
  • Kate — 2021 Netflix film — Mary Elizabeth Winstead (& Woody Harelson). Think Jason Bourne as a woman action…
